Pepper Reed was from Houston, but her daughter, Rea Rasmussen, was born in Orange County, CA in 1976. Is there a chance that Pepper could be the woman that Rasmussen's child from his first marriage remembered seeing circa 1974-1976?

Pepper was born in 1952 and would have been 24 when Rea was born.

Rea's date of birth is June 15, 1976, according to the California Birth Index on FamilySearch.

I think this little girl from the birthday party photo could be Rea

Great both Rea and Pepper got their nsmes back. Where is Pepper? I am afraid there’s some barrel somewhere that has not been discovered yet. Almost certainly Pepper was murdered by TPR.

I can't believe they finally named this little girl! I've been following this case forever. I live in Vermont and Allenstown is only a few hours away. Have they found any pictures of this sweet girl? Her mom is quite pretty.

I'm so grateful that these people have their names back. Now, if we can only find Pepper, and find out what happened to her.

"Pepper Reed was last seen by her family in Texas during Christmas of 1975. At the time, she was pregnant. According to the family, the child’s father was Terry Rasmussen. However, after Christmas, the family said that Pepper moved to California. They never met the child or saw Pepper again."

I keep thinking of that woman, Audrey, who walked away from her family around 1960, and popped up alive in Kentucky earlier this year. I hope that's what happened to Pepper - that she walked away from her life and started over again somewhere else - but it's unlikely.

It's incredible that Rea has her name back, but this also leaves us with a new mystery - where is Pepper? I think we all knew before this that the mother of the Middle Child (Rea, as we now know) was likely murdered by TR as well. Somehow though, learning a bit about Pepper makes it more real. Are Pepper Reed and Denise Beaudin the last unresolved crimes? Could there be more?

I am still convinced TPR was responsible for this case that has never been solved. Cheerleader in the trunk For the longest time, I suspected it could have been Denise Beaudin but maybe it could be Pepper or another victim? She was found in a trunk in a wooded area in a state park in MD. The highway that run along this area was a direct route from NH to CA. Plus I saw some sources that say he was in the MD/east coast area during some of his unaccounted for times. This UID has no dNA, only dentals.

So so happy to see names restored. I’ve been waiting for this day for so long!

Would Rea’s DNA already have matched to a Doe in CODIS, if Pepper was found deceased at some point?

Pepper should be able to be easily ruled out/in based on the extensive dental work of the Doe you mentioned.

I submitted it to the email on the press release. The case has so many similarities to how other of his victims were found.

Are they going to be able to find dental records for somebody who wasn't reported missing for 50 years though? Unless the one living brother remembers something unique about her teeth or that she never saw a dentist (thereby ruling out all people who've had work done), I don't think that will be a viable method of ID.

I'd be curious if they have fingerprints on file for her, because that would allow for a match if she was an unidentified body that didn't have DNA available.

I'm not sure if codis compares UID dna to other UID DNA

The Honeychurches were last seen Nov of 1978, I would assume Pepper would've disappeared before TR met them

I have been waiting for this for this day for several years... and now it's here. Her name was Rea. What a beautiful name. I'm in awe; big kudos to every single individual involved in bringing Rea her name back 🥹.

Now we need to find Pepper. She deserves her justice too 🩷.

To be completely honest, I thought that this girl would never be identified. I thought that she was a secret birth, or something where she didn't have any birth record. I hope this helps to understand Rasmussen's timeline a little more.
