Carrie Menard, 27 wanted on welfare fraud charges, was taken into custody in Monroe, NC and is being extradited for the murder of Amie Riley.

MANCHESTER – Furious that Amie Lynn Riley had flirted with her boyfriend, Carrie Menard spent almost a half-hour killing her -- hitting Riley in the head with a hammer, jumping on her chest and then holding her under water.

The former Derry resident pleaded guilty yesterday in Hillsborough County Superior Court to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years to life in New Hampshire State Prison for the brutal killing of the 20-year-old former Chester resident on Aug. 16, 2003.
