45 Cats and Dogs Rescued from Suspected Animal Shelter President's Home amid Cruelty Investigation

Eight dogs and 37 cats were seized from the home of Geralyn Serino in Annandale, N.J. Their rescue came amid an animal cruelty investigation surrounding Serino, who was or currently works as the president of a local animal shelter.

On Thursday, Aug. 21, Geralyn Serino, who was or is currently the president of Lost Paws Animal Rescue, was being issued a warrant for animal cruelty allegations by Hunterdon County law enforcement, per News 12. Upon their arrival, the authorities discovered and seized 45 animals from Serino’s home. (Serino was listed as the home's owner on property tax records and the president of the animal shelter in IRS documents obtained by the local news station.)

Honestly, this seems like a case of mental illness. I understand it’s easy to paint her as evil, but in reality it seems like she started out with good intentions (bringing strays in) but it avalanched into an obsession of trying to “save” all the animals she could save in her mind.

Sometimes the best intentions lead to the most evil of consequences.
