I've reviewed the thread again. Like someone else said, he looks Jewish to me. I think his hair is naturally curly, not permed. If he is a musician I think he sits down while he's playing, hence the calf length socks. He could play more than one instrument but most guitar players I know who finger pick only let the nails grow long on the hand they use to pick and use nail polish to harden them. Based on that, and the slight disfigurement on his lips and teeth I'm going with a brass player. There are four instruments, the trumpet, trombone, French horn, and tuba. Saxophones are brass but are wind instruments. Because he's so slight I'm eliminating the tuba and possibly the trombone. That leaves the trumpet and the French horn. In jazz bands, the musicians usually stand whereas in symphony orchestras the majority are seated. The French horn is usually a classical music instrument but it has been used more and more in jazz bands.

The autopsy report stated he had a 'coiffed' hairdo and nail polish, without identifying whether the polish was on both hands which leads me to believe he was just a natty dresser, what with the psychedelic briefs, well groomed hair and manicured nails. They also tie in with a mob connection. I think he was tied up to interrogate him perhaps waterboarded or just made to be really miserable by throwing cold water on him. The towels perhaps were just used to keep the trunk of the car dry while his body was transported to the dump site. If he wasn't dead, he likely died of exposure.

He is very petite for a man which would be fairly noticeable, I would think. When I look really closely at the side view morgue images I see he has a very unusually shaped ear. I also think it looks like he may have had a facelift. The skin seems very tight around the lower ear.

He could also have been a gay man who met with some people who didn't like gay men and was murdered. During that era being gay was a dangerous thing.

They all were Angloamericans...

Besides that Jews do come in all colors and shapes and sizes.

Only way we can find out who he is is through DNA.

I do agree with you on the whole. However, it isn't too hard to weed out certain ethnicities. Stereotypes exist because there can be certain truths to many aspects of stereotyping. Here's an interesting article.

As an aside, I recently found out that a woman named Stacey Boothe-Wilson, whose skeletal remains were found in a field in North Carolina in 1995, was thought to be a white woman with red hair who had never given birth, but was actually a black woman who had given birth to three children! I know this is a completely different situation from this man, as she was skeletal when found, but still, I thought I'd bring it up. Also, Julie Davis (Princess Blue) in the reverse situation: being thought to be a black woman, while actually being a white woman (although IMO she did bear somewhat of a resemblance to her recons' features, which Stacey absolutely did NOT). Oh, and Amy Yeary (Fond Du Lac County Jane Doe) was thought to be Native American and/or Hispanic, but she was white, and many speculated Sherry Jarvis (Walker County Jane Doe) may have been Hispanic. Of course, all these women were found skeletal (except Sherry), but just some food for thought; we just don't know for sure.

Some stats are off and there’s only a few ways to explain the gap in time, but I just created a thread for a man missing from NYC in Dec 1977. They look very much alike IMO.

Interestingly, while researching William’s case I came across another guy who is supposedly missing from Edgewater NJ since 1977. Robert Afarian/Avarion. He was a musician in this band. I’m waiting on word from a Mod whether or not the original source I found him on is allowed here. I can’t find anything else about him being missing.

Afarian was noted to have a tattoo on his arm which was not noted on the UID, seems like that would be hard to miss

This William guy does have similar facial features. Including the thicker lips and the more pronounce philtrum . Timing from the time he disappeared until this guy was found is a bit long .. but hey you never know. I do kind of feel the UID came from Manhattan.
