At approximately 6:15 p.m. we received a call of an active shooter at the 3200 block of Broadway SE in the Valley Area Command.

Multiple individuals were transported to the hospital. The shooter is currently not in custody.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Albuquerque Police Department is responding to reports of an active shooter on Broadway, south of Gibson.

Officers have discovered three people with gunshot wounds at 3205 Broadway SE, which is the Ben E. Keith Foods building.

Those people have been taken to UNM Hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

SWAT has been going through the building trying to locate the suspect.

BROADWAY INCIDENT: Suspect Waid Anthony Melton. Driving a 1999 black Mazda B300 club cab NM plate 917-RSM (Photo not actual vehicle, but same make and model). If spotted, do not approach and call 911 immediately. Suspect considered armed and dangerous.

Police respond to reports of active shooter near Broadway, Gibson

Police say the shooting happened at Ben E. Keith Foods distribution center, where Melton is an employee.

UNM Hospital confirms it has received three victims from the incident, and all three are in critical condition.

At this time, police say they do not have a suspect in custody. Residents in the area are being asked to shelter in place.
