State Police are asking the public’s help in finding 38-year-old Derrick Chavez, according to a New Mexico State Police spokesman.

Officer Ray Wilson said Chavez was last seen Dec. 17, around 2 p.m., in the area of 1100 Montoya Road in Bernalillo.

Chavez is a Native American male who is 5 feet 3 inches, 155 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. Chavez has a large head injury scar on the right side of his head and a tattoo on his neck that reads “Priscilla”.

He was last seen wearing a black Nike jacket with a red “swoosh” sign, tan pants, carrying a red laptop case.

Chavez was last seen in Bernalillo, New Mexico at 9:00 a.m. on December 17, 2017, when he was dropped off at the Sandoval County Detention Center in the 1100 block of Montoya Road so he could visit an incarcerated person. He has never been heard from again. Few details are available in his case.
