An Otero County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been charged in the shooting death of a boy outside Mescalero in June.

Jacob Diaz-Austin, 28, of Las Cruces is being charged with an open count of murder by the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office in the June 2024 fatal shooting of Elijah Hadley, 17, Bernalillo County DA’s Office spokesperson Nancy Laflin said Monday.

How horrifying that body cam footage, he was doing everything he could not to get shot, and then not to get shot again, and then again, and it will never cease to amaze me who the media seems worthy of attention and who doesn't,
This footage should be on every news programme in US, I am sharing it to as many places in England as I can

I believe that the open murder charge under New Mexico law means that the jury could find the suspect guilty either of 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder or manslaughter.
