Former police officer pleads guilty to receiving child pornography:
Under the terms of the plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of New Mexico, James Carney Ritterhoff will be sentenced to seven and a half years in federal prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.

I cannot say I am happy to be reporting this. This sort of thing is really disappointing and disheartening. We should be able to trust our LE personnel.

I understand your disappointment, but the truth is that there are some former LE and current LE that just should not have been allowed to be. Please do not let some of the bad ones color your opinion of them all.

Clearly Ritterhoff should not have been allowed on the force. What I am thankful for is that he was caught and prosecuted. His sentence is not near long enough, IMO. They never are.
