Gunfire erupted outside a saloon in Red River, New Mexico Saturday evening.

At least 3 people were killed and five others were injured after a shooting between rival biker gangs erupted at a New Mexico motorcycle rally Saturday, police confirmed to The Post.

The victims were struck at around 5 p.m. local time when gunfire rang out outside a retail sector of Red River, Questa del Rio News reported.

“It was gang-related,” Mayor Linda Calhoun said in a video posted by the news outlet on social media.

All the victims were “contained” in the shooting — none were local residents, according to the report.

Police said one victim was airlifted to a Denver hospital and said there was “no threat to public safety.”

The shooters are in custody, according to Calhoun.

Law enforcement requested that local businesses around the area of the shooting remain closed Sunday as they continue their investigation.

Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun says the shooting appears to be gang related.

The mayor also confirms that all who were in the shooting are in police custody and that there is no active threat to the community.

One of the injured was transported to UNM Hospital for treatment others were taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Taos and a hospital in Denver.

State police say Holy Cross Hospital is secured by Taos County Sheriff's Office and Taos Police.

Additional officers from New Mexico State Police have been sent to Red River and they advise the public to avoid the town as police conduct the investigation.

The shooting was over a picture. I assume it had something to do with the RESPECT that the motorcycle "clubs" (gangs) care so much about.

"Police say the shooting stemmed from one gang member taking a picture of another gang in Albuquerque. The incident spilled over to Red River where the fight broke out, and gunshots were exchanged."

In Texas, the Bandidos have been the dominate group for generations and were a significant participant in this Waco, Texas shoot out: 7 YEARS AGO TODAY: Shootout at Waco Twin Peaks leaves 9 dead, 18 wounded

One of the dirt bike riding at risk youth types in my High School had a father in the group. I remember him being accorded alot of respect from other dirt bike riding ary's who dreamed of one day receiving the privlage of wearing the hallowed, always neatly pressed, gold and red Bandido colors.

Ironically, the kid's Bandido father was near totally AWOL as a parent- but that never mattered. Instead, Bandidos were viewed as a weird mix of Al Capone, Conan the Barbarian, and... Mother Theresa.

But.... I guess one thing about being dominate is that there are always groups who want the coveted spot. As the links below indicate, the Bandidos are being challenged today like never before. This shooting in New Mexico could have being related to these challenges against Bandidos.

I suspect that this New Mexico shooting could be a continuation of these ambush shootings on a Texas interstate that left three bikers dead: Separate deadly shootings on I-45 are apparently gang-related, authorities say

And.... the Texas shootings are said to be related to this shooting at an Oklahoma biker bar that also left three bikers dead:
Oklahoma City shootout: Biker gang surrounded bar, gunned down rivals in attack from behind, court docs

“It gives everything a bad name," Motorcyclist Pikachu said, adding that the majority of those in attendance there "were out here to have fun, ride and be in the wind."

“I was up in sales, there was lots of folks, there was lots of traffic moving in and out,” Hollie Grey with Antelope Creek Leather said.

Grey has attended the Red River Motorcycle Rally for more than 35 years. She invested $2,000 to have her business posted here, and she's being told she can't do business. Grey described the incident on Main Street as chaotic.

“150 people all took off running that way,” Grey said. “There was people on their bikes blowing the stop sign trying to get away.”

“Every now and then you get that,” another motorcyclist told us, “A person or something that has to make a statement. And that's kind of stupid.”

“This might be somebody's only vacation, you know what I mean? And they come here every year and it's supposed to be a family fun event,” Grey said.

“What can we do?” Pikachu said. “Keep your head down and move. And we're not all bad.”
