So I didn't know this myself, but according to the National Library of Medicine:

"After entering the body, heroin is rapidly deacetylated to 6-monoacetylmorphine (6-MAM), which is then deacetylated to morphine."

There's like absolutely nothing in the area where she was found. So are we thinking she went there to use heroin in secret but then overdosed and died? Would she have gone to such a secluded place by herself, though? If so, she didn't drive there because no car was found. So did she hitchhike on US 550 and then walk the 4 miles to where her remains were found? And if she wasn't alone, did others just leave her there in a panic?

Asian with light brown wavy hair? Unusual, for sure. I wonder if they got her ethnicity right. And yeah, some Asian nations such as e.g. Caucasian Circassian nations have lighter and wavy hair and Indian and some filipino people also have wavy hair and of course anyone can bleach and curl their hair - but from experience it is far more likely the ethnicity is incorrect.

She could easily have been Euroamerican or a multiethnic Hispanic. Skull measure markers are just averages and there is a large margin of error.

Could be half-Caucasian I guess.

I think there’s also a major possibility that she could be Native American. New Mexico has a much larger Native American population than Asian population. One of my ex boyfriends from college was Native and he constantly got mistaken for Vietnamese or Filipino. I agree with you though about taking racial estimates with a grain of salt especially in skeletal cases.

What about Melena Montoya? Age is slightly off from the range, but she is Native American. Height is right on 5'1 and she weighs about 160 lbs (UID is unknown). I do think she has a bit of an Asian look so maybe LE/ME should look into Melena as a possible match. Hair looks to be a little bit on the curly side. Was last seen on 4/28/94 as she was trying to get back to her BF but then disappeared.

I believe she is Native or Hispanic. If indeed Asian, maybe Filipina. We need DNA

The blood stained coat leaves me thinking it might’ve been a homicide. But it does depend on how much blood there was. Was it in certain pattern of spatter that could indicate whether it was through a stabbing? or maybe she was overdosing and coughed up blood?

So glad to hear that @othram is on the case! 😍

New Mexico is well known for heroin issues. So if she had a drug problem, it’s not a stretch to think she might have been a sex worker possibly. Could she have been an earlier victim of the same person who did the West Mesa Murders?

So I usually don’t get into forums and don’t care for social media. I have something to say. Don’t know who to tell. I emailed crime stoppers and nm state police but not sure if it was looked into. About 10years ago or so I was on drugs and pretty much living on the streets. One day I met this guy named “Jim” that drives a lil white pickup truck. He was about 6’3 give or take And i’d say about 3001bs maybe more. Not extremely over weight but a thick dude. So he picks me a up a few times, pays me to hang out. Literally just hang out and would watch me do my thing, which at the time I thought was weird cause no person has ever done that but I thought it’s basically free money to support my habit and even better that I didn’t have to earn this money. So after a few months and encounters he picks me up One day and he tells me that he has something important to tell me but I gotta shut off my phone and leave it in the car. I immediately knew something was off. At the same time he’s saying this I act like I don’t hear him and I say “sorry, I was texting my cousin to let her know who I’m with and where I’m going, I hope you don’t mind I do it for safety” so he takes me to his house and I still go in, even though I feel uneasy, but sadly the addiction is more important than my feelings. He tells me how he’s a black belt In Karate, knows some jitsu And even showed me his belts and awards etc. he picks me up And sits me on his counter and his hands were as big as my torso. I thought this guy could literally kill me in an instant if he wanted to. Anyways we leave the house and on the way he’s telling me how he was a part of some government experiment that included mind control since he was a child and wasn’t supposed to live past the age of 20 or something like that. Just some crazy off-the-wall story about him and the government. I act like I’m truly interested in what he’s saying. I kinda am. More at what kind of mentality I’m dealing with. He’s telling me how he lived in alb and has moved a year prior. Then he’s telling me he has a native friend in alb who was a suspect in the west Mesa murder cause he worked at a nursery and there was burlap found with the bodies and the whole conversation was the craziest thing. I knew somewhat of the murders. Everyone did but not about suspects or evidence. I know they talked about it on the news. I still act like a nice person with Jim but I knew in my heart anyways that if I ever went with this guy I was going to disappear and never be found. I never went with him again but after the last encounter, he started stalking me everywhere I went. I had to cause a scene in a parking lot in front of a lot of people to make him stop. And he did. I hardly seen him driving around after that. But I have always felt that Jim was somehow involved in these murders. He is the reason I turned my life around. It scared me that much to the point I turned away from that life. Not sure where this guy is now but I hope not around this city still stalking people. After all this I also realized that there were a few people that ended missing in the SF area. Mostly native women. But again maybe all seemed to weird to ignore. It still bothers me. Hopefully one day this post will help.
