After serving four years in the Marines, including in Afghanistan, Wade was honorably discharged in 2004 and returned home to Alamogordo, New Mexico. After coming home, Wade was a little lost, according to his sister. And then came this spring, when Wade disappeared. He was last seen in the very early morning hours of May 6, by jail personnel at the Otero County Detention Center in Alamogordo. Wade was not being held in the jail at the time, but had come of his own accord for unknown reasons. “He was asking for help and water. And he said someone was chasing him,” an Air Force veteran said. “They turned him away. They did not assist him.”

The detention center provided the Taylor family with a video in which you can see Wade standing at the door asking for help. Jail personnel have allegedly said that Wade was “completely coherent.” But authorities say he arrived at the jail in just his underwear, was injured and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

Despite Wade last being seen in the early morning hours of May 6, his sister said their family was only notified of his disappearance days later, after not being able to contact him for days. “We didn’t find out about the incident until we reported him missing on May 9th,” his sister told Dateline. “When my mom went to report him missing, the officer taking the report said there was a situation, and we had to make a public information request to be able to get information about it.” Even the information they have been able to get is limited, she says.

This makes me so angry! I'm not surprised, unfortunately, by how he was treated. Law enforcement in Otero County, and especially in Alamogordo, has a very poor reputation, I'm afraid. I'm sure there are some good officers there, of course. But I have family who have lived in that county for about fifteen years, and they're straight as an arrow, law-abiding people, and even they have told stories about the harassment and other problems down there. It's so sad for Wade that they refused him help. This won't end well.

This is so ridiculously upsetting. My heart hurts for this family and Wade. Maybe we should rename LE as DPS (Dept of Public Safety) everywhere to remind them of their main purpose. So sad.

Bumping case up for Wade. Did he have PTSD? How tragic that he didn't get the help he needed.

We just moved to this area a little more than 6 months ago.
I just found his story.
I wish there was more information about his car, the direction that he left, cell phone records...anything.

This makes me sad.
I wish more people knew about him and what took place.
