The informant was a dud.

Sneed is told State Police do not plan to conduct any more "wild goose" searches for the body of Stacy Peterson, the missing fourth wife of ex-cop Drew Peterson -- who is charged with killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio.


• Translation: An informant who previously led police to a rural area near Peoria also led police to search an area near Downstate Galesburg last week.

• The end shot: Neither search turned up any evidence.
