It's been 25 yrs and no updates on this sweet little girl. Norwalk, CA Sheriff's office said that they wouldn't give up. I guess they did. She's not just a case number, she was a little girl with a lot of year's left. I was part of the Cal Trans that found her. Needles to say my life has been changed. If anyone can find out any info. Please post it here. God Bless. Bring our loved ones home and bring the criminals to justice.

Sheriff: 'We Will Find Jackeline's Murderer'
Remains Of Six-Year-Old Norwalk Girl Discovered

(CBS) (NORWALK) The remains of a
6-year-old Norwalk girl who went missing
18 months ago have been found and
identified by DNA analysis, Sheriff Lee
Baca said Friday.

"We will find the murderer of Jackeline
Saavedra,” a somber Baca said.

Caltrans workers found the body of
Jackeline "Jay" Saavedra in the 13700 block of Firestone Boulevard in
Santa Fe Springs last Nov. 23. They were wrapped in a plastic bag
that had been tied shut, Baca said.

Jackeline was last seen on Aug. 24, 2001. Sheriff's detectives
suspect the girl boarded a bus with a man near Rosecrans Boulevard
and Shoemaker Avenue.

After Jackeline's disappearance, the case was followed by local media
and various national missing-child organizations, and was featured on
"America's Most Wanted," Lendman said.

But Jackeline's whereabouts remained a mystery.

"Many clues were offered to the Sheriff's Department regarding her
whereabouts, and many leads were followed, to no avail," Baca said.

Then a child's body was discovered last Nov. 23 in Santa Fe Springs
and Whittier police were summoned.

On Nov. 25, an autopsy was done by the coroner's office and a DNA
sample was extracted.

On Dec. 1, Norwalk Sheriff's Station detectives contacted Whittier
detectives "regarding similarities between their case and the Jackeline
Saavedra case," Lendman said.

On Dec. 11, upon completion of a coroner's investigation, a request
was made to have a DNA sample sent to the state DOJ laboratory
near San Francisco.

On Jan. 29, DNA samples were collected from Jackeline's parents.
Two days later, DNA "reference samples" were sent to the DOJ lab.

The remains were positively identified Thursday.

Authorities asked anyone with more information on the case to call
the Sheriff's Homicide Unit at (323) 890-5500; or the Whittier Police

Reminds me of Baby Hope case from New York...the police kept putting out info out, press releases and eventually they were able to make an arrest!
