Thirteen people were hurt, including 8 children, in a chemical explosion on Wednesday at the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery museum in Reno.

Presenters were demonstrating a 'smoke tornado' and something evidently went wrong with the mixture.

'Seven children and two adults with non-life threatening injuries were transported to a local hospital, and another four people were treated and released at the Museum .....said Reno police spokesman Tim Broad.'

The children were said to have a type of 'acid burn' injury.

'City of Reno spokesman Matthew Brown told The Associated Press that a preliminary investigation indicates it was not an explosion but a chemical flash, which is "similar to if someone threw gasoline on a fire." He said he couldn't comment further on the distinction.'
