LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas police say an investigation indicated that a decomposing body found in a patch of desert along a highway may be a 13-year-old boy who was recently reported missing.

Police say the officially unidentified body found Tuesday was wrapped in a blanket and tarp and covered with large rocks.
Lt. Dan McGrath says two cousins of a missing 13-year-old boy who had been searching the area for clues to his whereabouts were the ones who discovered the body.

The boy's mother, grandmother and other family members told police they believe Aaron Jones' father, Paul Jones, is to blame. Paul Jones was arrested on April 1 for a different child abuse charge.

From the Clark County Detention Center, Paul Jones said he is innocent.
"I didn't do it, I don't know what happened to my son," he said. "It's devastating and hurtful to see they would point the finger at somebody you know that really didn't do anything to harm their son."

Police said Aaron was reported missing on April 14, and family members said they hadn't seen the teenage boy, who was in his father's custody, since December.

He "couldn't" call police because he had a warrant!? Seriously? That tells me just about all I need to know about this "dad".

Good point--Makes no sense at all. And it's just so sad that we are did hear about this boy until some remains were found that could be him. He could have been murdered as far back as Dec but no one even reported him missing until April. :furious:

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) - A day after denying to FOX5 his involvement in his son's disappearance, a jailed Las Vegas father was charged with murder in connection to the teen's death.

On Thursday, Las Vegas Metro police said detectives developed substantial information to charge Paul Jones, 33, with first-degree murder. He is the father of 13-year-old Aaron Jones, who was reported missing early this month but had not been seen since last December.

The body was discovered by two men about 3:30 p.m. in a desert lot behind the Siegel Suites at 3625 Boulder Highway, near Sahara Avenue.

Aaron, who police said lived at that Siegel Suites with his family for a short time late last year, was reported missing April 14 and was last seen Jan. 1 in the area of Nellis Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

Jones said he did not report his son missing sooner because he was “on the run” from his probation officer and did not want to go to jail.

He had pleaded guilty to a charge of child abuse for striking his teenage stepdaughter with a cable cord in 2015. He was sentenced to two years’ probation, which was revoked earlier this year. He was taken into custody April 1.

According to the arrester report, the boy's father admitted to officers that he would punish Aaron by hitting him and making him stand up with his back against a wall while holding his arms straight up in the air. While the child was in that position, Jones would then encourage his other 11 children to hit Aaron with random items...

A judge in Las Vegas set a preliminary hearing July 13 for a father and his girlfriend accused of killing the man's 13-year-old son and burying the body in a makeshift grave.

Paul Darell Jones and Latoya Williams-Miley appeared together in court Tuesday with their attorneys to face murder charges in the death of Aaron Jones.

I am crying. Why do this to your child? Why make the other children engage in this hatred? I am so sad for Aaron and his siblings. I hope the other children will be able to break this cycle.

im wondering WHY mom lost custody.

im certainly not disputing that family court is a miserable mess. however, I live in a totally liberal area and can tell you from sitting there listening, mom STILL are favored. if mom fights, that fight goes on for a long time.

handing that child over to a home with a dad ON PROBATION for child abuse with 11 other kids though, what in the world?
