It appears that the truck was the first in a three-truck convoy. The drivers of the other two trucks slowed down as they approached the tracks and saw the first truck slam on its breaks but hit the train.
Early reports claim signals and crossing guards were working properly.
this is so sad! I can't imagine the terror of those onboard, and their loved ones having to wake up to this news today...
