Police find girl's body stuffed in a duffel bag

Las Vegas police found the body of a young child inside a duffel bag at an east valley home after a mother told them her 3-year-old daughter went missing on a walk to the store.

The woman called police just before 9 p.m. Thursday and told police her daughter disappeared while she was taking her four children to an Albertson’s on the corner of Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards, Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said.

The girl’s father was arrested earlier in the week when police responded to a domestic violence call at their home and discovered he had outstanding warrants, Spencer said.

The mother of a girl whose body was found in a duffel bag Thursday night is identified as 29-year-old Aisha Thomas, according to Metro Police.

She is currently booked into Clark County Detention Center on charges of open murder, theft and making a false statement.

The woman’s other three children, all younger than 3 years old, were taken by Clark County Child Protective Services. Spencer said CPS investigated the family once in 2017.

If these people don't want their own children, please hand them in, so can be fostered then adopted out.
Perhaps this must be emphasized, on the News, Billboards, whatever is legally accepted, so unwanted children are saved.
Pets are placed here, in shelters and are often adopted out, giving them a chance to survive, rather than being killed by their owners.
These past owners may have changed their minds, about having a pet, as perhaps Parents about their children.
Life for these parents may have encountered problems, but their children could be saved.
Surely these kiddies need a chance, for a better life.

Mother arrested after three-year-old girl found dead in duffel bag

Dejah Hunt had been reported missing before she was discovered inside the bag in a closet last Thursday.

Her mother, Aisha Yvonne Thomas, told detectives during her arrest that the girl fell unconscious early that morning after she hit her in the head for wetting herself.

The child's father, Don Edward Jr, was in jail at the time.

Thomas is in prison pending a hearing on 1 October, during which it will be decided if she will stand trial for murder.

In a conversation with ABC News on Wednesday, Sarah Hawkins, the public defender representing Thomas, said her client has not entered a plea as yet but plans to plead 'not guilty' as soon as the opportunity presents itself. She declined to comment any further.

One of little Dejah's relatives posted a tribute for her on Twitter.

The preliminary hearing for Thomas is set for October 1.

A candlelight vigil is planned for Tuesday evening to remember three children killed in recent weeks.

It will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Sunset Park, where the mother of 3-year-old Daniel Theriot reported him missing Sunday. The boy's body was later found in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

In a similar case, the mother of 3-year-old Dejah Hunt reported her daughter missing on Aug. 23 before the girl's body was found in a duffel bag in an apartment closet near Lake Mead and Hollywood boulevards.

Report: Slain 3-year-old girl's twin siblings found malnourished

Aisha Thomas' 8-month-old twins and a 2-year-old child were taken into protective custody after her arrest in August and transported to Sunrise Hospital for evaluation.

According to Thomas' arrest report, the twins were found to be severely malnourished with them weighing 6 pounds and 8 pounds. A doctor also discovered that the twins had physical injuries including rib fractures, cerebral hemorrhage and a clavicle fracture. The 2-year-old had some scars but was otherwise "well appearing."

Hunt faces six counts of child abuse while Thomas faces 15 counts of child abuse, in addition to a murder charge in the death of 3-year-old Dejah Hunt.
