Found Deceased NY - Arizona Bartlett, 20, Orwell, 4 July 2019

State Police is searching for Arizona K. Bartlett, age 20 from Orwell, NY who was reported missing by family members on July 5th.

Arizona was last seen on July 4th at approx 2pm. She is described as being 5 foot 5 inches tall, 140 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing gray stripped shorts, heart shaped sunglasses, and burgundy Nike hightop sneakers.

I didn't know where Orwell, NY was, but it is located 45 miles north of Syracuse, NY, and less than 15 miles to the shores of Lake Ontario (I only used Syracuse and Lake Ontario to help place Orwell, as these locations were not mentioned in the missing report):

Search continues for missing Orwell woman

Arizona's mother, VB, tells News Channel 2 she and her family are in contact with State Police constantly to get updates on the search. VB says Arizona was last seen at a family party on July 4th and when she left she didn't say where she was heading. V says Arizona was seeing a guy from Mattydale in the Syracuse area and she says he does not know where Arizona is either.

Found deceased:

ORWELL, N.Y. -- State police say a 20-year-old Oswego County woman was found dead in a field behind a house Monday in the town of Orwell.

[...]

State police K-9 units found Bartlett’s body Monday while searching in the area of 1948 county Route 2 in Orwell, state police said in a news release.

The investigation revealed Bartlett’s death is “consistent with an overdose,” state police said in the release.

I'm so sad Arizona was lost so young. RIP Zona. Prayers for her young sons, her family, and her friends. Her family said that she had been clean for 18 months. The family believes it was an overdose of heroin. All this and more information in the following article:

. . ."On Monday morning, Bartlett’s body was found in a field behind her home. She was alone at the time of her death, Chiasson [Arizona's aunt] said. They don’t know if she was secretly abusing drugs again or if she relapsed with one fatal dose.

“There are many unanswered questions,” Chiasson said. “We may never know.”

Chiasson said she doesn’t want Bartlett to be remember as “just another drug addict." She wants her death to mean something. To create change. To bring awareness. To end the stigma on addiction."
