Identified! NY - Astoria, UP76662, HispMal 45-65, May'20 - Jose Antonio Colon

This case was just added to NamUs within the last 2 hours.

This male was found deceased at "home" in Astoria on May 25. His possible name is Jose Antonio Colon but this identity has not been confirmed and NOK or any relatives have not been located.

No cause of death is available as of right now but from what I see, Jose suffered trauma to his face.

Looks like he was possibly assaulted. If he was found inside his residence, wouldn't there be a deed or landlord paperwork with his information? Mail? Wallet? Anything??

From researching UID cases, it seems that many people don't carry identification, and sometimes use random names to identify themselves.

IMO, the redness around his face looks more like postmortem lividity than trauma. If he was laying on his stomach when he died and his body wasn't found for a few days, the lividity would probably look like that.

I wish I had my old homicide studies textbook with me so I can look up some specific examples, but a quick google search produced similar-looking lividity patterns to Jose's.
Either way, I hope they figure out how he died. I'm really glad he got his name back, and hopefully his body will be claimed soon.
