'Lay your a-- down and go to sleep': Babysitter caught on nanny cam attacking toddler

Chantal Mason was arrested after she was allegedly caught on nanny cam footage violently attacking a fussy toddler she was supposed to be babysitting.

A babysitter in New York was arrested this week after nanny camera footage allegedly showed her viciously assaulting a 2-year-old little girl while both of the child’s parents were out of the house at work.

At some point in the footage, Mason allegedly begins yelling at the toddler while simultaneously slapping the little girl’s body more than 25 times.

“Be quiet,” Mason can reportedly be heard saying on the video. “Lay your a– down and go to sleep.”

The station said that it was able to obtain the full footage of Mason allegedly assaulting the child for an entire minute from “a source close to the investigation” into Mason. However, due to the nature of the footage, the station deemed it to be “too graphic and upsetting to show.”

Instead, News 12 reporter Blaise Gomez posted a brief nine-second clip of the alleged assault and a summary of the incident.

How in the world is someone so stupid as to think whacking and yelling at a toddler will make them calm down and go to sleep?

If I were the parent/grandparent, I would have been at the house ASAP, dragging the babysitter out by the hair of her head.

Kristla Holmes was appalled after opening up her phone at work Monday and seeing what was going on inside her Newburgh home. Babysitter Chantal Mason is seen on video on the couch covering Holmes' 2-year-old son in a blanket before repeatedly slapping him on the back.

Holmes said Mason was a long-time family friend who had watched over her kids before. She said she never suspected any abuse, until her Ring camera kept pinging Monday afternoon, detecting motion from the living room.

Mason was a family friend of the child’s parents for 15 years, according to a source. The child was seen at St. Luke’s Hospital and is OK.
