Hmm. $100K a year won't buy diddly squat in the hallowed echelons of the Upper East Side.

That’s why she needed someone like Epstein, even in the 1990’s. And she had social connections he needed. Win win. Ugly people!

It makes me sick to think that the money I've spent at Bath and Body Works over the years was somehow going to support child rape at the top of the corporate chain.

Wexner may be innocent but my gut says no way.

My thoughts exactly.

Based on that alone, I think Jeffie tapped into a market that most of us had no idea existed.

It appears our thinking is going the same direction. Despite countless speculative articles and blackmail theories, some of us are focusing on his criminal activities as sources of funds. (Of course we are more familiar with crime, the prevalence of pedophilia and assaults against women.)

That townhouse, though! Think how easily a billionaire can just drop by, satisfy his needs while enjoying a beautiful, safe environment.

More about Hoffenberg and Epstein. Source is Hoffenberg FWIW.

In 1981, he [Epstein] struck out on his own. He founded his own advisory firm, Intercontinental Assets Group, which he ran out of his apartment on East 66th Street. In 1987, he met Mr. Hoffenberg, then the chief executive of Towers Financial Corporation.

Mr. Hoffenberg said in an interview that he had met Mr. Epstein in New York at the height of the 1980s takeover boom, when Ivan Boesky’s “Merger Mania” was a national best seller. Towers Financial was buying unpaid debt from hospitals, nursing homes and phone companies and trying to collect it — a distinctly unglamorous niche. Mr. Hoffenberg hired Mr. Epstein as a consultant for $25,000 a month, and the two men refashioned themselves as corporate raiders.

Villafana pointed out that the foundation Epstein said he was working at, and his 12-hour-a-day job schedule, “were all created on the eve of Mr. Epstein’s incarceration in order to provide him with a basis of seeking work release.”
Also this double speak about how he wasn't a registered sex offender until after he competed his sentence is a true loophole used by more than state agencies for whatever unknown reason to make life easier for convicted sex offenders.

More follow-up on Villafana with internal emails and conflicting records of when Epstein registered as a sex offender

Palm Beach Sheriff's Office, FDLE disagree on when Epstein registered as sex offender

"Ann Marie Villafana pointed out Epstein had only created his charitable foundation Florida Science Foundation a few months before his incarceration and had said he worked there every day prior to his plea. "Mr. Epstein also could not have been working there "every day" when he hadn't been in Palm Beach County in the past six months," Villafana wrote.

Villafana wrote that she knew granting the work release was up to the discretion of the Sheriff's Office, "but sitting in his attorney's office suite making telephone calls, web-surfing, and having food delivered to him is probably not in accordance with the objectives of imprisonment." Villafana asked for clarification of what constituted eligibility for the program."

"According to the [Florida Department of Law Enforcement/FDLE], Epstein registered as a sex offender on July 2, 2008, and was listed on its website on July 17, 2008.

The Sheriff's Office maintains Epstein was not registered until his release on July 22, 2009, according to its booking documents."

So the Sheriff’s office said he was eligible for (phony) work release because he wasn’t registered yet as a sex offender? But Mr. Sheriff he was in your jail because he was a convicted sex offender. What did they pay you to miss that logical connection?! Let me guess.

I’m too lazy to look for the link but in one of the articles about GM I posted, I think she ended up with $100K per year. You’re right about her father.
There was this in the DM about GM and JE:

"‘[GM] said she’d hit hard times. She had no money to her name. She was disgraced. Jeffrey offered her a job and then, I guess, because of her ability to procure girls for him and to teach us what he liked, she became a vital asset to him.'"

Edited to add this:
"Virginia says: ‘I once asked Ghislaine why she got as many girls as she did for Jeffrey, as she supposedly had been his girlfriend and they seemed to have a grounded but non-monogamous relationship. She replied, 'It takes the pressure off me to have sex with him.'”

It's interesting that even when facing prosecution, Hoffenberg didn't tattle on Epstein. A great deal-maker took a 20-year prison sentence and didn't try to exchange info on others for a shorter sentence??

Odd, imo.

From at least 2000 to 2007, Epstein chaired a company registered in Bermuda called Liquid Funding Ltd. This entity was partially owned by the investment bank Bear Stearns, where Epstein had worked, according to the report. The bank’s collapse would help set in motion the 2008 financial crisis.

So infuriating. Before the financial crisis, banks gave home loans beyond what the Regular Joe customer could actually afford. I'm sure the bank employees personally knew better than to do that, but were pressured by their bosses, who were pressured by their bosses, who were pressured by the bank leaders... who were perhaps involved with people like JE to bilk the customers in a widespread scheme. Something as big as that does seem like something chess-playing JE would be interested in.

Infuriating, if true. IMO.

And a reminder to do the right thing, even if you think you're a little person and pawn. So many people just went along with so many wrongs along the way. :( I totally understand that employees have to do what the boss tells them to do in the workplace - and JE understood that too. He got off on that control, imo. It was one Regular Joe setting up another Regular Joe with big mortgages - and JE just watched from a distance.

Really curious as to the defense for this case. If the defense attorneys are not court appointed, I can see them having some big gun experts that could blow the state's experts out of the water.

Oh, I think he will have big guns for his defense team. Any lawyer taking the case will be noticed by others who made need their services some day.

Since the case is about the girls, I wonder if the defense will be to say the girls enjoyed being with him and all the luxuries he offered? Depending on the jury, that tactic might work.

I am waiting for charges about his finances. I don't think all that will be part of this case??
