Botched eyebrow wax leads to beauty salon brawl

Beauty salon workers in Brooklyn, New York squared off with two customers, using broomsticks, fists and dustpans to pummel the pair after one of them refused to pay for an eyebrow wax that she wasn’t happy with, witnesses and police said.

Video posted on Facebook shows a portion of the knockdown, drag-out brawl at New Red Apple Nails. It was filmed by another customer who was inside during the mayhem.

This is a big thing for people who provide services. There are whole websites devoted to how you can get out of paying for services.

I hope that isn’t what was going on. But even so, call the police, don’t beat up the customer!

I’ve had bad haircuts and I’d just pay and go elsewhere. The two times I had my eyebrows waxed, I didn’t like it, but they grew back.

Ouch! I guess you better pay up even when the service isn't up to par. That company is going to lose a lot of business over this.

LOL Now that was a funny reply :)

I just watched the video. OMG. The lady with the broom was going way too far. She was hitting on everyone even after the action stopped. She could get charged with assault and battery based on what I just saw. She is lucky someone didnt clock her.

We dont have enough video in the beginning to see how all of this started. My goodness.

Once a service is provided then I feel its an obligation that I have to pay unless there is specific terms that says guaranteed satisfaction or your money back or something. But I would never use that anyway and just pay up and never come back. Its not worth it to argue with a business unless they are willing to just let you have it free if you are not satisfied.

People do abuse things like that though so it will be interesting if it really was a bad job or not. Wish we could see what she thought was a bad job.

I once had a really bad haircut and still paid up and just never went back. Just hid in house until it grew back so I could get it cut somewhere else. LOL

Slightly OT
Want to share how my bad haircut went. LOL

I went to a beauty school for a cut. It was a business that offered less expensive cuts because they use it as a training ground. Normally when i went there I got decent cuts and I am not picky at all about my haircut. Just want a normal cut. Nothing fancy and anything is better than when I cut it myself. LOL

So I sit down and it was like lightning speed cut. It was like the person was trying to set a record for speed of cut. I honestly did not even have time to tell her to stop before the chopping began and my hair was on the ground. I was like "Wait! Uh! Hang On!" and before I knew it she was done and I lost about 4 inches of hair and only came there for a trim. LOL

Not only was it way too short than I wanted but it was choppy as all get out. I didnt even complain and quickly paid and left and was appalled at what it looked like. I wore a hat whenever I went anywhere till it grew back.

Last time I went to that place. LOL

The thing is though I didnt even say anything and didnt complain or anything as I didnt want the person to feel bad. I probably should have at least told her in a nice way so that she could learn from it. I think I may have been her first cut ever or something.

It was by far the worst haircut I ever had in my life. LOL

Hi - I've had some bad haircuts in my day, as well as bad eyebrow waxes. My thing has always been, well, it's hair, and one thing for sure with hair, it grows back. We just live with it until it does its own thing, and grows back. I have also had some horrid color jobs, and same deal, I pay and out it grows. JMO. Katt

we're generally reasoned & thoughtful folks here at WS.

Yeah glad that's not my usual nail salon, that's for sure!

I’ve had a couple of bad eyebrow waxing experiences. One time they knew it wasn’t good and didn’t charge me, and the other time I expressed my displeasure with the waxing job but they didn’t seem to care, so I paid and went about my life. I never went back to that nail salon though, not even for a pedicure, even though it was a block away from my apartment.

That being said. It’s like $7 to get your eyebrows waxed in Brooklyn. If the customer said she was unhappy just to get a free wax, then that is ridiculous. I am more inclined to believe that the salon owner/workers got pissed that the customer didn’t want to pay and they weren’t shy about arguing with her that she still had to pay. I’ve seen quite a few arguments of that nature in my time, started by the nail salon owner. Basically “you are unhappy with our service and think we did a crappy job? Oh well, instead of remedying the situation, we will still demand that you pay because we aren’t thinking about how this will effect us in the future”. JMO
