Divers seeking person in Hudson

CHATHAM — Divers have been dispatched into the Hudson River to search for a person who has gone missing.

The search began off River Street in Chatham.

Googling for more information has me totally overwhelmed and a little freaked out by how many bodies are found in water.

Valatie man drowns in creek

A 19-year-old man from Valatie died Sunday after he drowned while swimming in the Stony Kill Creek in Chatham, according to a statement from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Brett Cappelli, of Valatie, was swimming with his friends in the creek when he went underwater and didn’t resurface, according to the statement. The creek is located behind River Road in the town of Chatham, and Cappelli and his friends were swimming in an area where it isn’t allowed, police said.
