It is very sad that this young man has been unidentified all these years. I am speculating he may have been "homeless" due to wearing several layers of clothing, although it was winter in New York.

Perhaps he has been reported missing by now but in a different state. I also wonder if he aged-out of foster care or a group home and wasn't formally reported missing.

Rest in peace, young man. I believe you have relatives out there wondering about you and hope you will still be identified.

The NamUs for this one used to say "Unknown hispanic male was found in lot at North 9th Street and Kent Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to the head."

Another case from NYC that had its details scrubbed.

Whoa, can you tell me more about this? Why do you think some cases in NY had details changed and even his race was changed?
I wonder which race is correct, because having this wrong could prevent identification.
(Also I didn't find a prior thread on WS; did you?)

On your first question, I don't know why, but it happened around 2020-2021 (this is my reconstructed timeline, because I only started tracking UIDs as a "hobby" last year). The types of information that got censored usually related to violence & other COD, drugs & body packing, etc. It wasn't done for all of them, and some NYC cases still list "unsavory" details. For example, #UP7760 from NYC proper on 1/30/94 still lists that the deceased had shot himself, even though this kind of detail was removed from a lot of other profiles: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

IMO he visually appears to be black, but that doesn't preclude him from also being Hispanic at the same time.

I was able to find the original full text through reposts of the original NamUs file from Facebook in 2019 and Pinterest in 2018 (a lot of info like this gets preserved through old social media). Sometimes the NamUs 1.0 weblink is archived someplace like the Wayback Machine (web.archive.org), but that's more rare and this one wasn't. Doe Network profiles from before NYCOME started doing this are also good at preserving these details.
