Another article confirmed the victim and suspect were friends of more than 2 decades.
Brooklyn mother of victim ‘ecstatic’ over woman’s arrest three months after caught-on-video slay

"In August, Johnson’s 20-year-old sister described the suspect to The News as a family friend of more than two decades who often came by to eat and hang out in their home.

According to authorities, Banton has three prior arrests — one as a juvenile in 1993 and a pair of forgery arrests in 2005 and 2006. The suspect also uses the aliases Claudia Williams and Claudia Johnson and provided the arresting marshals with a state ID card from Georgia, according to her booking report.

In an odd twist, Delia Johnson had recently returned to the tristate area after living in Florida."

Unbelievable. The police stopped the suspect shortly after the murder but thought they were looking for a male shooter and let her go.

Banton, 42, was “pulled over very shortly after the incident,” Assistant District Attorney Lauren Silver said at the suspect’s arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court. “The police did not know they were looking for a female and they let the defendant go, however that is also captured on body camera and you can very clearly see the defendant’s face in the same car that she fled the crime in.”

''An ex-con accused of fatally shooting a Brooklyn woman in the back of the head in August was allegedly let go by police moments after firing the gun because the officers hadn't realized the culprit was a woman.

Claudia Banton, 42, of Georgia, was charged Friday in the cold-blooded killing of her friend Delia Johnson, 42, as she chatted with people near a stoop in Crown Heights on August 4.

Banton, who served seven years in a Georgia prison for forgery and has other felony convictions in Georgia and New Jersey. was arrested in Florida earlier this month and extradited to New York.

She refused to answer questions at the 77th Precinct before being arraigned in Kings County Supreme Court on Friday. She has pleaded not guilty.''

''Banton has had three prior arrests, one as a juvenile in 1993 and a pair of forgery arrests in 2005 and 2006, where she used aliases Claudia Williams and Claudia Johnson in Georgia and New Jersey, the Daily News reported.

The fatal shooting was caught on camera as the suspect, identified as Banton, walked up to Johnson and shot her in the head multiple times. ''
