Baby found dead in Midtown hotel; 2 women in custody

Two women are in custody after a baby boy was found dead inside a Midtown hotel.

Police responded to a 911 call at the Hotel Pennsylvania on 7th Avenue and West 33rd Street around 1 a.m. Saturday. Hotel staff told police they saw two women wandering around the hotel with a 4-month-old child.

The baby was unresponsive and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There were no obvious signs of trauma, and so an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

During that time, police said the women were impaired, either under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Both were taken into police custody for questioning.

Police identified the child as Dominic Greene from Wilmington, Delaware, and the 24-year-old and 26-year-old women in custody are also from Wilmington. Neither is the child's mother: One was his step-sister, and the other is that woman's fiancee.

'Addicts' found wandering hotel with dying baby released - New York Post

The two drug-addled women found wandering the halls of the Hotel Pennsylvania holding an unresponsive baby — who later died — have been released by police, authorities said Sunday.

Roneisha Collier, 24, and her 26-year-old fiance, Kiara Watson, were released from custody without charges late Saturday at the behest of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the NYPD said.

The women, who are Delaware residents, were carrying about $7,000 in cash and were not guests of the hotel.

The city medical examiner is working to determine how the baby died.

One of the women was the baby's stepsister, 24-year-old Roneisha Collier, while the other was Collier's fiancée, 26-year-old Kiara Watson.

The women took a bus from Baltimore to Delaware, and had been babysitting the boy.

They were trying to book a room at the Hotel Pennsylvania, across the street from Madison Square Garden, when an employee noticed that the boy wasn't moving and called 911.

The baby had no obvious signs of trauma.

The women were practically incoherent when officers arrived, and heroin was found at the scene.
