Police discovered a gruesome crime scene inside a Westchester County home that has left four people — including two young children — dead.

Sources tell CBS2, authorities are now investigating the case as an alleged murder-suicide in the village of Pleasantville.

Village officials say police were making a welfare check at a home on Romer Avenue Thursday afternoon when they found the bodies of two adults and two children inside the house.
“Nothing ever happens here, the police don’t have anything to do so when something like this happens it’s devastating,” neighbor Brian Skarstad said.

Officers were reportedly asked to check on the home after the children did not show up at school.

“As you can imagine our hearts are broken at the news of this incredible tragedy. This is a very small community and it impacts all of us in this small village,” the local school superintendent, Mary Fox-Alter, told CBS2’s Valerie Castro.

The school district says schools will be open Friday and grief counselors will be on hand for students and their families.
2 Adults, 2 Children Found Dead Inside Pleasantville Home After Alleged Murder-Suicide, Police Say

***Police made the gruesome discovery around 2 p.m. at the family’s home on Romer Avenue.

“Pleasantville school officials requested the check following the children’s absences at their schools,” said Police Chief Erik Grutzner. “Officers responded and entered the home, where they discovered the bodies of two adults and two children.”

Grief counselors will be available today to help the tight-knit community.

Few details have been released as neighbors struggle to understand the sudden loss. One man said he saw the children every day.

“We know them very well. They’re just – this is the nicest family,” said Skarstad.

Police have not released their identities or causes of death.

Christmas is the top date for tragedies, such as suicides/murder as in a case like this and like so many others we'll see in the coming month. This isn't going to be the last situation we'll see like this.
I always have said make sure you have a person to who you can talk too during the holidays, especially if they are difficult to begin with. It might save lives.
