Driving with a suspended license, Edwin Cruz-Gomez, 38, allegedly plowed a 2009 Chevy Suburban into teen Jhoanny Gomez-Alvarez following a heated fight with the girl, her boyfriend, her mother and the mother’s friend Saturday morning outside an Elmhurst bar.

Is that the mother in the back of the ambulance? She seems really weirdly calm and not out of sorts for anyone who just witnessed another person pinned by a car and killed, let alone their own child!

That poor girl didn't have a chance. Out at 4 am outside a bar.
Walking past a bar at that hour with her mother and boyfriend is not a crime, it is not the victims fault for being where she was, the fault is solely on that of the perpetrator

‘Despite the previous arrests, a heavily sloshed Cruz-Gomez was sitting outside Prima Dona on Roosevelt Avenue and Benham Street when the group walked by around 4 a.m., sources said.’

Of course it's not her fault. Cruz-Gomez is entirely at fault for what he did to her. I don't think walking the streets at 4 am is a normal family outing or looking out for the best interest of your teens though, at least not where I'm from or with anyone I know.

I have my own teen girls, out with their grandparents in London right now, and I'd be really upset with family if they had them out like that at 4 am. I would not consider it a safe environment and would consider it putting my children at unnecessary risk, regardless of any criminals being fully responsible for the crimes they choose to commit. I choose to be cautious about the environment I put my children in because it's also my responsibility to reduce their exposure to risky environments and situations.
