NY NY - Jacob Pritchett, 11, autistic, not seen several weeks, mother arrested, Brownsville/Brooklyn, Sept 2025

I also find it very strange that a photograph of the mother has been publicly released but her name is being withheld. If it's a HIPAA related thing, her face shouldn't be released either.
Maybe they are hoping someone will recognize her who can help with the timeline of when they last saw JP.

Okay, I did slight let's pull the story so far together in few words. (Note: Sources are the multiple news articles around the web)

Anyone can add if I missed something, but this is to give the gist of it.

Neighbours contacted Administration for Children’s Services, and told that they haven't seen the boy for a long time. Timeline for how long is inconsistent, since the time span is from a couple of weeks up to the entire summer. Mostly it's believed, that he vanished between mid-August to early September.

Also stories of/from the caregiver (mother) seems to be also inconsistent. It is also very odd, that her picture has been published, but the name is withheld.

Few of the neighbours have given few interviews about seeing him playing on the window with toys (toy car) and making noises.

Another neighbour had stated, that the boy never came out and didn't play with other children, or attend school. This was later confirmed, that he was not enrolled in any school.

It has been said that the mother slashed at the ACS, and had bursts of rage. She was later sent for evaluation for her mental health status. She was evaluated as mentally disturbed person.
Eventually she was moved to Rikers. Mother is described to be between 50 to 53 years old.

Jacob is reportedly Autistic and non-verbal. No actual pictures of this child have been made public and reportedly there likely isn't any.

Timeline Part:
September 25th
ACS received a phone call from the concerned neighbour(s) about Jacob. They visited the apartment the same day, but the mother denied access to her home. LEOs where called.

Police went to check the well-being of Jacob, over at his mother's apartment with the ACS. Now she would let them in, but denied having any children and not being physically to have children. It was noted that the apartment had no electricity and was unkempt. The Birth Certificate was recovered later, stating the parenthood of Jacob. The child was nowhere to be found, as well as no trace of him.

October 1st
ACS returns to the apartment at 1.33 pm accompanied by LEOs. The mother repeated not having any children. Police entered the apartment once again and found no trace. of the boy. The NYPD K-9 unit was called to assist in the search. Traces of human blood were found near or in the refrigerator.

Police starts scouring the nearby areas, entire building, backyard and dumpsters.

October 9th
Based on a "hunch" they would start a tedious search on garbage landfill site 300 miles away. This didn't produce any new evidence of what had happened to Jacob. His body still remains missing.

^^
I doubt that JP was ever diagnosed with anything and that he ever had any type of medical care. MOO. What bothers me the most is that since the mother's name is apparently being protected we have nothing to follow. No court case..nothing, unless MSM remains active on the case.

It has crossed my mind too, since there hasn't been official confirmation from any real source and appears kind of like hearsay way. I would honestly think, they possibly would had been offered some help - if the lil boy had been diagnosed. But naturally, my own speculative ramblings. And protecting the name borhers me as well. I would rather protect the face. But that's my thought on it.

This isn't good news .just dang. Hopefully another msm picks up this story
agree to disagree, i think the new york times coverage will help get the word out to other inter(national) outlets, and more eyes on the case can mean more tips and leads.

Is it possible you’re thinking of the NY post which is more of a tabloid? anyways have a good night.

Finally -- we have a name for the mom -- Jacqueline Pritchett.

Unfortunately, these two articles are behind a paywall. This is what's visible:

Jacqueline Pritchett invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself when a judge on Thursday again asked where her son Jacob is.

Jacob Pritchett, 11, has been missing for months. A judge has said his mother must remain at Rikers Island until she reveals his whereabouts.
Where Is Jacob? His Mother Won’t Say, and the Police Cannot Find Him.

Orsatti had harsh words for the 50-year-old mother and for her lawyer, Daniela Mancini, after Mancini spoke on Pritchett’s behalf.

“Your client has a voice,” Orsatti told Mancini. “It’s improper for you to say she can’t speak on her behalf.”

[...]

police sources said has mental health issues

[...]

Neighbors said the boy, who doesn’t speak because of his austism, was small for his age and often pushed around in a stroller despite being too old for one.

I'm not sure HIPAA is involved here: that law prevents medical professionals from releasing your info. It doesn't apply to anyone else, like LE, acquaintances, coworkers, etc. (though any of those releasing health info might cross other lines, possibly legal, and certainly personal/professional courtesy):

About HIPAA, "[t]he Privacy Rule, as well as all the Administrative Simplification rules, apply to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and to any health care provider who transmits health information in electronic form in connection with transactions for which the Secretary of HHS has adopted standards under HIPAA (the "covered entities")." - from the US government's site https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/privacy/laws-regulations/index.html#who .

The judge wants to keep her at Rikers until she cooperates but that may not phase her. She was a single parent, in low income housing and appeared to be having trouble even caring for herself. She didn't have electricity at the well check and reports are that her apartment was unkempt.

Perhaps, in her case, this won't promote her cooperation.

I agree. As awful as Rikers is, it might be easier for her.

It might be exactly what she wants.

It might be exactly what she wants.

I suspect this as well. And because she is hanging on to quite interesting beliefs, I think the way I've heard Rikers is - might give her in some absurd way.... Solace.

My random thought on her behaviour, as something more is coming out now.

- What is the age, she think she is?

Her way of naming the boy as Jacob, which is masculine version of her own name. While this necessarily do not make you question of this, because it do happen with more adult parent(s) as well.... but little girls in some studies have found to name their dolls by close name to their own, version of a nickname quite often.

Another point to this is that the boy is non-verbal and allegedly autistic. Could it be, that she might have neglected this phase of his life? As she didn't actually speak to him and occasionally children need encouragement to learn to speak as well as learn new skills. Like he wasn't real child to her?

Thirdly, that she has been allegedly said to have been pushing him around on strollers. True, it could be, that this little angel boy had more issues that we knew (or anyone else.). But even then, he would had been provided the right size of wheelchair or in some cases, actual strollers. Otherwise it could be once again, some version of doll play.

Fourth, her saying that she can't have children (and apparently doesn't have had periods.). Now this breaks this up a bit, since to know of female body functions, you have had to have someone tell about these or actually had them. And some know at fairly early on about these.

However... I wonder could it be, that since she doesn't have them now (she is on that stage of womanhood after all), that she feels her right to say this. Also depends who questioned her (and the situation.), not to mention - it's pretty private matter, that is going on in our bodies. Not all like to think or talk about them.

Also she knows of Jesus. Granted, most of church goers know of him. and if the religion plays bigger role to her or to her family as she was little. Relating to the body functions earlier... we know that some parishes and churches within them, can be more strict about these than some others. So, it could be factor for her saying these. And on the subject, allegedly claiming to be a Jesus Christ. Some teach this, or she could had come to this conclusion on her own. All of this speculations if course.
Naturally. she could be as well just incredibly disturbed person.

Naturally these days, you don't necessarily need to have the two people tango part, because fertility clinics exists and some just decide to have child with a donor. Nothing bad there eithet, but I find it rather unlikely on her case.

We also have the possibility of her being a victim in some way, we know it do happen. So trauma of such event, could alter her mind and she tries rather to settle on more comfortable age in her mind.

We already know, that she really has issues with strange people her. and her flipping out reminds me of seeing some kids literally going all ballistic in case of stranger danger. Kids are often taught to trust police, and not let strange people in.

Her way of acting of not wanting to speak on court, but obviously she has talked with those representing her, shows this weird stranger danger. Or it could be case of stage fright. It would be better in my eyes, if it would be told, why she won't speak on behalf. She is currently playing the hide behind someone's back.

Also her being tight lipped of where is this little boy, sounds like "It's a secret, I can't tell you." Which is really what we can expect from our daughters. Which is pretty frustrating.

But ultimately, this case is super sad and makes us tear inside, that this little boy was taken too soon.

not one. at age 11. Sad stuff, don't feel good about this one at all :(
I'm wondering if Jacob is really autistic. He was raised by such loving and caring person that his inability to speak and other issues may be the result of horrifying negligence as well. For instance the speech won't develop properly if there is nobody speaking to and around the child.

Could she have been raised the same way?

She might have been raised in dysfunctional family, but if Jacob's issues are due to neglect and isolation then no, she have been not raised the same way. She can speak, he cannot.

Wasn't he raised by his grandmother until she passed away? I might be mis-remembering or mixing up with another case, but I suspect the grandmother's death triggered this downward spiral.

That's the first time I hear about Jacob being raised by grandma.
