Jesus Aguilera, one of many Cuban-national prisoners who arrived on US shores via the Mariel Boatlift of 1981 - where most of Cuba’s prisons and mental institutions were jail-broken by their own government under Fidel Castro’s orders and subsequently transported to the USA - has been convicted of yet another torture/murder of a woman even after remaining locked up in a NY prison for over 30 years for previous murders and attempted murders all happening within a 9-month time period.

Aguilera was believed to have strangled at least four people in the nine months between his arrival in New York and his arrest for murder. Reiman spoke to two others who had been lucky enough to escape before Aguilera succeeded in killing them, including the teen the exported monster had lured into an abandoned hospital with the promise of designer jeans, then raped and began to strangle when she managed to jump up and run.
In June 2009, latent print called Lt. Sean O’Toole of Bronx Homicide and said they had matched the print from the Moore murder scene to a man named Jesus Aguilera. O’Toole assigned Reiman to investigate. Reiman was glad to discover that in another example of how things should be done, the medical examiner had retained scrapings from under Moore’s fingernails. A resulting DNA profile was submitted to another database that had not existed at the time of the murder.

Am finding the designer jeans aspect of this interesting. Have been reading articles about how prized a possession a pair of blue jeans were in Cuba at the time of the Mariel Boatlift, which is how Aguilera found himself in the US. (Jeans were restricted in Cuba as a symbol of capitalism.)

Was this a gimmick used just by Aguilera, or did others use this same ploy? And another alarming point. The refugees who came over during the 1980 Mariel Boatlift found themselves overwhelmingly to be victims of violent crime once they came to the US. And sometimes, the refugees turned on each other. Are some Jane Does Cuban refugees from the Mariel Boatlift, or maybe prior waves of immigration? If so, that may be why they're still unidentified (?).

Looking at these Does in particular. Aguilera does not match the known m/o on any of these cases, but I'm wondering about the timing in terms of the refugee crisis, the "jeans" aspect, the jewelry, the use of pyres/burning, and the possible use of animal sacrifice and if there may be links among these cases. And in a couple of these cases, I'm wondering if someone wasn't using a similar gimmick to the one used by Aguilera
:
Neptune NJ Jane Doe, White in some sources, white/Hispanic in others; found July 1, 1980, est year of death 1980, I think I've seen at least some sources saying they thought she'd been there about a month; located behind bowling alley in Neptune NJ; 20-30 yo, 5'7", 135lbs; had money and comb in sock, no purse or ID. Wearing Zena jeans and unusual jewelry including a charm that to me resembles a Shango symbol used in association with Santeria, which is popular in Cuba. Primary cause of death unknown according to some sources, but most note the clearly present blunt force trauma to head.

Sussex County NJ Jane Doe, found June 24; 1980, High Point State Park in north New Jersey/Montague NJ; race unknown. most likely White and/or Hispanic with possible Black admixture. wearing "rainbow" stitch bell bottom blue jeans brand unknown; 18-20 yo, 5'0"-5'2"; est time of death, have seen 1 year prior to 5 years prior to discovery of remains; animal bones (sheep/goat) wrapped in plastic near the victim's dismembered remains (a saw was used), which were also wrapped in plastic. (Am assuming at this point animal sacrifice may be involved somehow with this victim.)

Pima County UP1168, 1984 (Marana, AZ), found Nov 5, 1984; 50-85 yo, 5'4"-5'8"; date of death days prior; hunter found the burned and decomposed body in a cistern in the area frequently visited by hunters and horseback riders; blunt force trauma wounds, unclear if victim was killed and then burned, or burned to death; very unique jewelry including something resembling St. Peter's Key, which is sometimes incorporated into Santeria as part of the Way of the Saints.

Gilpin County CO Jane Doe, Maria, the Pyre Case, found Sept 30 1952; pre-30 yo, 5'1"-5'5"; est year of death 1952. Remains were found in an unused gravel pit in the woods. Body was found under a log and was charred due to being set on fire. Found approximately 100 yards from Highway 119 and about 25 feet from Clear Creek. Unusual jewelry including what appears to be an earring, that I think resembles the Shango symbol associated with Santeria (symbol found w/Neptune Jane Doe is very similar, jmo).

And just a note further on Aguilera, I'm thinking he didn't come to the US in 1981; he came to NY area in 1981. At one point, I read he was at Arkansas, my guess is at Ft Chaffee.
