Investigators on Long Island said Friday they are not ruling anything out in the search for Peishuan Fan and JuanJuan Zwang, including if they were abducted or voluntarily disappeared for financial or political reasons.

*****
The couple's sons, ages 20 and 12, have not heard from their mother in over three weeks. Their oldest child said he did not feel comfortable going public with pleas for help, but he appeared visibly shaken Friday.

Where were their kids living at the time? They haven't seen their mum since about a week before she disappeared, so I'm guessing they didn't live with her, she was away, or had an explained absence,
or at least it looked that way. Were the couple living together? Sounds like it.

The woman was last seen at 10:30 pm and her husband at 10:31 pm. Typo or fact? Extremely precise, seen by whom ? from security cam ? She went 1 minute before ?
I can't get the missing persons links above to open, but I presume they were last seen at their home address? Or was it elsewhere in their street? The 1 minute time difference is odd, but I can imagine one left then the other one went back to get something. Were they seen leaving in a car or cars? Or did they walk out of frame or sight? I presume they were alone, otherwise we'd know about it. No mention of what they took or left behind. What was the living situation of the children? You'd assume the youngest lived at home, but the eldest may have moved out or lived at university. What happened that day as far as the kids go? I only ask this to see if there were adequate arrangements for at least the youngest child to be cared for (as you'd imagine if it was a voluntary disappearance) or whether he/she came home to an empty house and no parents (which would suggest it wasn't voluntary). It was a Sunday, so he/she wasn't at school. Was he/she home at the time or out for the day? Same goes for the older child.

I also find it odd the police jump right to financial or political reasons, but they clearly have reason to state that. Do we know their nationality, background or residential status? It's also odd that their eldest child said he had not heard from his mother in 3 weeks. What about his father? He also said he did not feel comfortable going public with pleas for help. Is this perhaps a cultural thing? Is he concerned that it will cause harm to his parents? Is he maybe just shy and reserved?

So many questions, so few answers.

I just realised they went missing at 10.30/10.31 PM, not AM. Was the youngest child at home and in bed? What about the oldest? If both were in bed, or home, you can assume the older one would be able to look after the younger one when they woke up to no parents, but if it was just the youngest you can assume the parents had no intention of leaving him/her alone overnight. Or at least I wouldn't leave my 12 year old alone overnight. It was a Sunday night, so I assume there was school the next morning and the youngest wasn't at a sleepover. Were there others living there? Staff? Family? Friends?

I would assume both were home. When reporters rang at their doorbell (see post vide msn video up in the thread), the older son answered the door, went out for literally 5 secs making sure the entrance door was almost closed not to show the house inside, then went in again. Note the accent.
The msn video is of 04/18, from 03/30 it is 3 weeks.so when news started reporting, indeed they had not been seen since 3 weeks. I do not think the 3 weeks refer to those before their disappearance.

ETA: seeing the neighbourhood and the average price of properties there, I am not surprised LE thinks of financial issues.
Seen the boy’s accent, I wonder since how many years they are in the US. Are they from China ?

I believe that is a Chinese accent. The couple's names are also Chinese spellings, although I have never seen one that starts with "Zw", only "Zu".

I wonder what kind of financial or political reasons there may be, if the couple intentionally leave behind two young sons to fend for themselves.
