Two NYPD cops are being eyed in the Long Island serial slayings after investigators learned they got into trouble for hiring prostitutes while working for the department, according to sources familiar with the probe.

One cop was forced out of the job in the 1990s when his supervisors learned he spent time pursuing hookers and paying street walkers and down-and-out women for sex while he was supposed to be on patrol.

An internal investigation led to his resigning under pressure, one source said.

The other officer still works for the NYPD but was stripped of his gun and badge years ago because he allegedly assaulted a prostitute and got arrested during a sting operation.

I was looking over my notes again last night to looks for things the women had in common and noticed that all of them, including SG, have past arrests for stealing. I don't know if that means anything. I would imagine the percentage of prostitutes with criminal records would be pretty high as the norm.

I take that back--I don't see any arrest history for Melissa Barthelemy. Also I think SG's arrest was more drug related, but it sounds like it involved some scam they were caught up in.

The cop in this article is from Flushing, Queens. I think SG's driver was from Flushing as well. Maybe he knew MP was an escort driver and was in the back of the SUV knowingly or unknowingly.

It doesn't look like it. The first one happened in the 90's and the second one still works for the force. The cop in that story was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
