Above linked article is paywalled for me, but the other media sources seem to mention only the stabbing. (Not to downplay the severity of that at all - just that the hammer is so brutal and cruel)

makes me wonder if they didn't find that until the child was receiving medical care

not sure if there was a knife and a screw driver or the knife was long and slender but regardless this poor child.
