She was partly of Jewish ancestry. The mugshot does appear to be her. I wonder what she was doing in Illinois and whether further info on her arrest may be available to investigators looking into her death. I don't know how much information the Illinois court system would have after almost 25 years.

Someone on the NCMEC Facebook post said that they remember her from Peoria, and that she frequented the main library there.

About that time, and through the oughts, there were teenagers and young adults called "travelers" - homeless youths who traveled from city to city. Aging out of the foster care system definitely contributed to this, and could explain Alexa going from upstate New York to Peoria, Illinois.

Agree. They indicated on the link you and MFleish posted that "Unfortunately, Alexa’s sisters do not have any photos of her as an adult, but for Linda and Veronica, they want the world to remember Alexa like they do: smiling, bright-eyed and happy."

They added a photo of her as a teenager to the article, I hope that more people who knew Alexa in life reach out to her sisters

I feel that after she was out of/aged out of care she went back to the state she knew and was from? Maybe in hopes of finding her sisters? I am sorry she never saw them again.

Although I do recall in the Clinton era, a law was passed that teens who age out of the system would receive a small stipend of about $3000 so they wouldn’t immediately become unhoused. Her poor sisters.

She was gorgeous.

One of the sisters posted several pictures of her on Reddit, and commented saying they are working with the NYPD to open a cold case investigation into her death.

She was just about to turn 19 when she died.. or did shortly before death. At 18 you age out of the system. By looking at her arrest photo frankly she looks homeless very skinny and with yellowed teeth. To me it looks like she had a bad drug problem too. She fell apart and fell off no doubt. It is captivating because you see the person and the life in their eyes and you can see she wasn't doing well and is sad especially know what happened.

I posted the attachment incase you didn't see it but it doesn't come through in the quality it should and you can really see better her condition. For me her teeth really stand out you can see she always had this very white well maintained teeth and you can see how it appears she stopped caring for them at some point and in general doesn't look healthy at all. I feel like some low down individual killed her. Alternately which I don't believe i suppose we can't rule out suicide.

OMG - I missed this last year that she had been identified. I followed this case for a long time. Sending prayers to her sisters that were looking for her. I wonder why they were put into foster care? What happened to her parents?
