A 55-year-old middle school principal in New York was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to entice a 16-year-old girl into having sex with him at a remote location where he was found with chicken nuggets and a Grimace milkshake from McDonald’s as well as a box condoms.

Johnson City Middle School Principal Daniel Erickson was taken into custody on Friday and charged with one count of felony luring a child and one count of misdemeanor third-degree attempted rape, authorities announced.

Authorities confirmed that Erickson and the victim knew each other, as she was previously a student of the middle school.

The office noted that Erickson and the minor communicated for a least a week before he was arrested. During that time, he tried to meet up with her multiple times, the office said. This included Erickson going to the minor’s home, but the girl would not come out and meet him.

The initial conversation began when Erickson posed as a young adult on Snapchat. He subsequently used his position as the principal of Johnson City Middle School and used database information from the school district to convince her who he really was.

The sheriff’s office became aware of Erickson’s actions on July 5. Upon the office’s involvement, the student was not at risk of danger, the sheriff’s office said.

But parents say the school district should have acted earlier, claiming other former students have brought up similar sexual harassment claims against Erickson.

Officials also noted that the meeting did not occur on school property, and Erickson did not have any prior incidents involving students.

But a mother who spoke on the condition of anonymity to 12 News said her daughter was previously threatened with suspension after accusing Erickson of being a pervert and making her feel uncomfortable.

Another parent claimed on the news channel's Facebook page that Erickson had done 'vile things to my kids,' while a former student said that when she was in eighth-grade, Erickson would ask her about her sex life.
