NEWFANE, N.Y. (WROC) — Sheriff’s deputies from Niagara, Monroe and Wayne Counties are working to unravel a mystery surrounding the discovery of a body in the back of a woman’s pickup truck.

• The body was found just after 11 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot of a Tops store on Lockport-Olcott Road in the Town of Newfane.
• The woman left the Town of Ontario in Wayne County on Friday morning and was headed to Niagara County to go camping.
  
• She made a brief stop in Monroe County before traveling through Orleans County and stopping at the Tops store in Newfane, north of Lockport.
• She opened the tailgate of her truck to put groceries in the bed and that’s when she found the body.
  
• The woman did not recognize the man and police have not yet been able to identify him.

Votour says the man had no ID but fingerprints and facial recognition will be used to try to identify him. He's described as possibly Hispanic, in his 40s or 50s, about 5-foot-8, 180 pounds, and wearing jeans and a light-colored shirt.

Wayne County woman finds unknown body in her pickup truck

NEWFANE, N.Y. (WROC) — Sheriff’s deputies from Niagara, Monroe and Wayne Counties are working to unravel a mystery surrounding the discovery of a body in the back of a woman’s pickup truck.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the body was found just after 11 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot of a Tops store on Lockport-Olcott Road in the Town of Newfane.

Sheriff James Voutour says the woman left the Town of Ontario in Wayne County on Friday morning and was headed to Niagara County to go camping. She made a brief stop in Monroe County before traveling through Orleans County and stopping at the Tops store in Newfane, north of Lockport.

Circumstances of Recovery Found unresponsive in the bed of a truck. Was a migrant worker in Wayne County, NY on a farm. It is unclear how the decedent came to be in the truck, which was driven across the state without the driver knowing he was in the back. He has reportedly worked in Indiana as a migrant worker in the past and is originally from Mexico.

I wonder what his cause of death was? May be he hopped in the back because he didn't feel well and died?

Whatever happened, foul play or not, a lot of spit came out of his mouth, and he looks like he had been sweating too. You can see it in the PM.

Such an odd case. Not a stowaway, no signs of drugs or murder...
I also thought he may not have felt well, but would someone open the latch of the back of a random truck and hop inside and close it? Instead of lying down on the ground or a bench or such. Odd

I assume in August it is hot. But the spit... i can only think of maybe lung/heart failure after severe emphysema or poisoning (cocaine overdose poisoning does that, too). But LE did not write about emphysema or drugs so we can assume that is not the case here.
