She should not have ever let that baby anywhere near him. She needs to be investigated as well.

IMO, at 17 I don't think she fully comprehended the danger of leaving Nylah with Taylor. The mother seemed to genuinely love her daughter and I think she wanted the father to feel the same way but was terribly naive. An adult should have been present to closely supervise.

When the mother perceived something was amiss (IIRC, via a FB message), she went to the apartment, grabbed Nylah and ran out with Nylah in her arms. But, Taylor chased them and attacked both. I don't know if she had seen any violent behavior in Taylor prior to this. It was just terribly naive to think that an inexperienced teenage father could be trusted with a toddler, and doubly so one who insisted he didn't want the baby. If only an adult who knew of the mother's plan to leave Nylah with Taylor had intervened. JMO

As far as I'm concerned, mom is a victim in this. This is a victim friendly site.

She had a current order of protection against the father at the time of the murder.

That was nearly a year ago. According to the article at the link, Taylor babysat while the mother went to school. It seems something has been left out and we're not getting the complete story.

Anyway, when the mother realized something was wrong, she risked her own life going to the apartment to try to rescue her daughter. She may have been a poor judge of character if she believed Taylor had changed and could be trusted with their daughter, but she is still a grieving mother and not responsible for Taylor's actions. I agree tbat that she is a grieving mother. We will never know the exact circumstances. I was just going off of what the baby's aunt and grandmother said, that the father told her that he was going to punch the baby in the face if she brought her to his apartment. Pair this with the fact that he has at some point been threatening enough to warrant an order of protection, that should be enough of a heads up that this is not a safe place for the baby. A direct threat was made from a person with a questionable history. That should be enough to show that he should not be around the baby. Why risk it? Clearly, he followed through with his threats to a 'T'. Now she's dead.
