Ulster hikers find skeleton of businessman who disappeared in 1973 By FRANK LEONARD Staff Writer

A skeleton found in a remote Ulster County woodland Sunday has been tentatively identified as that of a Rockland businessman who disappeared 13 years ago, and authorities believe that "organized crime" was behind his mob-style slaying. District Attorney Kenneth Gribetz, whose office is investigating the case with state police, said Friday that the remains found by hikers Sunday are believed to be those of George Bolona of Tomkins Cove, who was last seen in 1973. Three .38-cali-ber slugs were also recovered at the scene. Authorities believe Bolona, 44 at the time of his disappearance, was shot three times at another location and dumped at the site where the skeleton was discovered wrapped inside a plastic-covered cloth. Two credit cards in Bolona's name were found in a wallet at the scene. Gribetz further identified Bolona as a business associate of a missing South Nyack construction firm operator and ex-convict, Perry Maurino. Authorities believe that Maurino, who disappeared in 1978, was also killed. "We believe that organized crime is involved in the disappearance of these two individuals," Gribetz said. The district attorney said that based on information from state police, "the murder did not take place in Ulster County. (Bolona) may have been murdered in Rockland County, he may not have been." He declined to elaborate. During the early 1970s, Bolona and Maurino were involved with the construction of the Riverview Nursing Home in Haverstraw, Gribetz said. Bolona's function involved renting heavy equipment for use

This is really a very strange case. Perry maurino had a son with his same name, who is still living in west nyack like sr. Further, everything seems to still be recorded in missing dad’s name, or there’s some messed up public records. Or maybe Perry’s never really been missing and still lives in west nyack fooling the police on his bad check prosecution.

Perry Maurino living in Nyack is definitely the son of the missing Perry Maurino. Don’t know how true this is but I was told by Perry (the son) back in the mid 80’s that his father was possibly involved in the Lufthansa Heist and disappeared around the same time. The picture posted above is definitely the missing Perry Maurino
