Hochul walked away as she was confronted by an unknown person after spending only ten minutes at the Massapequa Funeral Home on Long Island, the New York Post reported.

The governor was scheduled to pay her respects on the second day of viewings for Diller, a New York Police Department officer who was allegedly shot and killed by suspect Guy Rivera, 34, on Monday evening.

After Hochul arrived at the funeral home around 1.45 pm on Friday, a person from the crowd shouted, 'Get her outta here,' law enforcement sources told the Post.

The man accused of fatally shooting NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller during a traffic stop in Queens two years ago was found not guilty of first-degree murder, but guilty of manslaughter and other charges.

Guy Rivera was convicted Wednesday of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree for attempting to shoot a NYPD sergeant who also responded to the scene and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was acquitted of murder in the first degree.

Earlier on Wednesday, the jury said it had reached a verdict but were sent back for further deliberations after one juror told the court the decision was not unanimous.

The foreman told the judge at the time that they had reached a not-guilty verdict on the first-degree murder charge but found Rivera guilty of the rest of the charges against him. But when the court clerk polled the jurors one by one to confirm they agreed with the verdict, juror No. 5 said they disagreed, according to the New York Post.

A former NYPD sergeant slammed a jury’s decision in the killing of officer Jonathan Diller, saying they "absolutely missed the mark" by rejecting a first-degree murder charge for the gunman, despite evidence he believes showed clear intent.

"When you intentionally bring an illegal firearm onto a street, you hold it in your hand, and you pull a trigger, you know the consequences…" Joseph Imperatrice told "Fox & Friends First" on Thursday.

"For this jury to turn around and not think for one second that that was murder, knowing these officers were identified, knowing there were several officers in uniform that were identifiable on the scene, that's intentional, and they absolutely missed the mark here," he added

Cop-killer Guy Rivera was stunningly acquitted of first-degree murder Wednesday for fatally shooting the married dad and officer. He was instead convicted of the lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter in Diller’s death — and found guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of Diller’s partner, who survived the March 2024 carnage in Queens

“In real time, in the moment, the jury found that the intent was to cause serious physical injury to officer number one [Diller], and moments later he tried to kill officer number two [the partner],” said Jeremy Saland, a defense lawyer and former prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, told The Post.

“It seems like an odd verdict,” he said.

“They don’t believe the intent of the shooter was to kill Diller. It was intent to cause serious physical injury. At the same time, they find [Rivera] guilty for attempted murder. Why the difference? It’s an odd verdict

The jury’s verdict cleared Rivera of the top charge of first-degree murder, which requires proof of intentional killing under specific legal circumstances, including the targeting of a police officer. However, jurors did convict him on lesser but still serious charges, including aggravated manslaughter and attempted murder. They found that Rivera caused Diller’s death under circumstances involving extreme recklessness.

Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
