VICTOR — Law enforcement is looking for a town resident last seen leaving his East Victor Road apartment July 15.

Reginald Vardon, 83, was last seen Monday (July 15) leaving the Autumn Grove Apartments on East Victor Road. He is described as 5’1″ and may be wearing a black jacket.

I didn't see how they can rule out foul play if they have no idea what happened. Also, was he but seen leaving the branch?

Well, that's a good question, but unfortunately they don't mention him exiting the building.

I also wonder where the heavy black coat went that he was seen wearing when he left the apartment. The backpack doesn't look full enough to me to have a coat in it. ? MOO

Sounds like his phone was disconnected.

Vardon lives at Autumn Grove Apartments, which is a senior residential community. A manager there first reported him missing. His daughter says he has some cognitive decline. She spoke with News10NBC on Thursday afternoon.

“There’s been a lot of leads, but unfortunately nothing panned out as of yet. We got very hopeful yesterday. He had it disconnected and someone else had gotten his phone number,” Vardon’s daughter said.

Good point about the coat. I agree that the backpack doesn't look like it has anything that bulky in it.

Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione called the case “extremely unusual” and urged anyone with information to come forward. Vardon’s daughter, Kim Kaiser, pleaded for help, emphasizing the family’s heartbreak and their need for answers. A special Facebook page, “Help Find Reggie Vardon,” was created for tips from those hesitant to contact authorities.

  • No bank activity since several days before he went missing
  • no cellphone activity and no signs that he has purchased any new cell phones and used those in any way
  • LE does not know if he’s missing on own accord or at the hands of someone
  • He had previously visited family in Chicago and San Francisco, this was not the case this time. Deputies made contact with those family members and came up at a dead end. His last known contact with anyone was with ESL staff July 15.
  • LE searched area hospitals and kept in contact with maintenance at his apartment complex, which has so far come up with nothing. His apartment has also since been cleaned out and turned over to management at the complex.
  • LE said Vardon was known to frequent the Auburn Trail. Teams searched the trail area numerous times, but did not find anything.
  • They believe he left on foot

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office said skeletal remains found this week are those of Reginald Vardon, who disappeared last summer.

Sheriff David Cirencione believes a powerful storm last July may have contributed to his death.

Human remains discovered earlier this week in a remote area of Victor have been identified as Reginald Vardon, the 83-year-old man who disappeared in July.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Friday that Vardon’s remains were found May 27 near Mud Creek and McMahon Road, less than a mile from his home.
