Search underway for missing Orleans County man with Alzheimer's

More than 150 members from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, DEC and several fire departments have been searching for Robert Arnett, 71. The search become desperate as temperatures dropped.

At times, the terrain made it challenging for searchers who were combing through heavy brush and open fields. They were searching in 5 large groups of about a dozen to two dozen people in a two-mile radius from where Arnett was last seen. He was last seen around 7:30 p.m. Friday on Quaker Hill Road in the Town of Barre.

“The way it's described to us is this is kind of common for him to leave, go for walks, but normally he would return. Last night he did not return, so after three hours they called 911,” said Chief Deputy Michael Mele with Orleans County Sheriff’s Office.
