NY - Samuel Bankman-Fried (FTX), Alleged Fraud, Money Laundering, 2019-2022 *Arrest*

In a complaint filed on July 20, the DoJ has accused SBF of interfering with a fair trial by sharing CE’s personal diary with a NYT reporter to publicly discredit CE, who is a government witness.

In its latest claim filed on Thursday, FTX is seeking 48 counts related to the fraudulent transfer of funds by former FTX executives.

The executives allegedly set up a charity called the FTX Foundation “that served little purpose other than to enhance the public stature of Defendants” that received grants directly from bank accounts that contained customer funds.

SBF’s brother planned to use the FTX Foundation to buy the island nation of Nauru and set up a bunker for him and other effective altruists in the event that “50%-99.99% of people die.”

FTX Trading on Thursday sued founder Sam Bankman-Fried and other former executives of the cryptocurrency exchange, seeking to recoup more than $1 billion they allegedly misappropriated before FTX went bankrupt.

Yeah, that's a group of people that I'd want responsible for repopulating the planet. Not.

But I see their point. AI is scaring the bejesus out of me as I fear it will be used as a weapon (politically or raciestly, if that's a word, if not, I deem it so. lol).

Wait, either you're a grifter or an altruist, you can't be both.

SBF has agreed to a gag order preventing him from making comments that could interfere with his trial. However, his lawyers have argued that a gag order should also apply to all potential witnesses, including the U.S. government, former FTX employees, and the current CEO of FTX.

Not trying to be funny but I think this is the only kind of gag that would prevent SBF from talking. Well, it wouldn't exactly stop him... it would just be hard to understand what he's trying to say around the ball unless you've learned to speak Ball Gag.

I hate providing a source for that but it's required so I am! lol

The Justice Department will not pursue a campaign finance charge against Sam Bankman-Fried as part of an effort to adhere to the legal obligations of the FTX founder’s extradition from the Bahamas.

Nothing new here other than SBF’s lawyers have responded to the prosecutor’s request to have SBF jailed until trial.

On August 4, Judge LK docketed: "ORDER as to Samuel Bankman-Fried. The Court will hear further argument on the government's application to revoke defendant's bail or for alternative at 2 p.m. on August 11, 2023. The defendant shall be present. (Signed by Judge LK on 8/4/2023)."

Looks like prosecutors are still actively pursuing the campaign finance activity.

In a letter to the judge on Tuesday, however, prosecutors said they intend to file a superseding indictment next week that will seek to incorporate Bankman-Fried's alleged campaign finance scheme into seven other existing charges.

Another one bites the dust.

Ryan Salame, the former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, is reportedly in talks with federal prosecutors about entering a guilty plea to criminal charges […] related to breaking campaign funding laws.

YES YES YES!!! I got my wish! I told ya guys he needed to be in jail because he was doing this sort of thing (not exactly this, basically any and everything he should NOT be doing considering the trouble he's in). This is LONG overdue IMO.

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried was sent to jail Friday to await trial after a bail hearing for the fallen cryptocurrency wiz left a judge convinced that he had repeatedly tried to influence witnesses against him.

SBF’s parents, both law professors at Stanford University, were present in the courtroom's audience. His mother, BF, nodded to him in tears as he left. His father, JB, placed his hand over his heart as he watched his son be led away.
