On March 8, 1992, the body of a young, unidentified female in her 20s was discovered in a trash dumpster behind a metal works shop, which was located at 175 Greeley Avenue, Sayville, New York. The victim, weighing no more than 100 pounds, was found nude and without any of her personal effects. Subsequent examination of her body revealed her cause of death to be ligature strangulation. In 2024, the Cold Case Task Force, in conjunction with Danielle Gruttadaurio, a forensic artist with the SCPD, and Parabon Nanolabs were able to update the image of how the victim likely appeared prior to her death via not only forensic sketch, but also by DNA Phenotyping, i.e., the prediction of physical appearance from DNA. Both images are contained herein. Additionally, the Cold Case Task Force, in collaboration with a genetic genealogist with the FBI, has since been able to determine the victim was likely of Brazilian and/or Portuguese descent.
