NY - Seemona Sumasar is not a robber, she is a rape victim

This story makes me very, very angry.

Ms. Sumasar filed charges against her ex for rape. Over the next several months, the perp harrassed and filed false complaints against her in an attempt to pressure her to drop the charges.

Then he paid two people to file a complaint against her for armed robbery. She went to jail, her bond was a million, reduced to 500K. Her business failed, her child was forced to live with her father...she lost everything.

Recently, the plot was revealed. This is what the DA has to say:
"When an informant came to our office with new evidence, we worked quickly to release Ms. Sumasar and to arrest the defendant," Rice said. "Any suggestion that this could have been done sooner flies in the face of the facts and any insinuation that this office was for some unknown reason ignoring evidence is an example of a criminal defense attorney grandstanding rather than advocating for his client."

Come again?

You.screwed.up. Say your sorry, open your coffers and try to get this many-times victim her life back.

This seems to be another case of LE not being able to admit they made a mistake. Amazingly,there are still robbery charges pending according to the article. It really upsets me when le will not back down when they are obviously wrong and just say, sorry, we were wrong. AAAUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!
I hate law suits, but she deserves compensation for this from the city, the false accusers and her assinine ex.

What?! How hard would it have been to look at the surveillance video from the casino she was at the night of one "robbery," at the outset? All casinos have cameras everywhere. What did she supposedly steal from these people, and did any of it turn up? No evidence, nothing? What a travesty!

I am sure if the robbery charges are still pending they will be dropped because it's pretty clear prosecution doesn't plan to put her on trial, since the charges of perjury have been filed against the ex-boyfriend and two supposed "victims."
