Blumquist attended the Blue Heron Music Festival in Sherman this weekend.

Peters said that Blumquist was last seen wearing a red zip-up hoodie, blue jeans and a bandana.

“Sven was to have returned home on Sunday,” Peters said. “Family and friends are actively searching, as well.”

Peters said that Blumquist was listed as a missing person by his department and entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center because he is a township resident

Capt. Eric Balon of the New York State Police said troopers are currently assisting in search efforts in Sherman and the “surrounding area.” Also helping are members from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and New York forest rangers.

My initial look through all the photos came up empty - no one wearing a red hoodie (very few wearing red at all) or that looks similar to Sven. Of course, this could just mean he was not in the area of the bandstand. How was he supposed to get home from this festival?

Family Member Reports Death of Missing Pennsylvania Man Last Seen at Local Music Festival

Heather Burkett, the sister of 23-year-old Sven Blumquist, made a public post on his Facebook page Friday morning that Blumquist’s body was apparently discovered Thursday night.

Authorities have not yet confirmed that Blumquist has been located.

According to the Jamestown Post-Journal, Local police began searching for Blumquist in the largely wooded area in and around the Blue Heron Music Festival grounds in Sherman earlier this week after he was last seen walking away from his campsite around 1 a.m. Saturday.

This is a very sad ending...I hope we find out what happened to him.

“All of us at the Blue Heron Music Festival are deeply saddened by the loss of Sven Blumquist,” Rockcastle said. “I didn’t know him personally but he seems like a really nice kid from a really wonderful family. We’ve never had an event like this happen in 27 years. Words can’t really express how terrible we feel about this and how we feel for the family. … We’re working with the family to find a way to honor him at the (Blue Heron) with a gathering or a memorial or something like that. He really loved it here. The family understood why when they came out here.”

Although the MSM has not been notified of the cause of death, it is included in his obit. "Sven D. Blumquist, 23, of Warren, PA., died Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Great Blue Heron Music Festival grounds, Sherman, N.Y. after an accidental drowning."
