NY Times bikini article contains hidden gem

The New York Times regularly shares archive articles and I always like to read them. This one is about a trend in 1966 to get NY trendsetters to buy bikinis - only 20 years after they hit the beaches in the South of France.

It's interesting in itself but just look at the article; one of the potential bikini buyers they interviewed, Edith Mayer, is about to get married, and 'met her fiance through a computer'.

This is in '66! Surely one of the very first online matches, before the worldwideweb was even invented? I would love to know more about Edith's story!

Also, there was someone in that article knitting bikinis. My mom, who had experience of this when she was very young, always told everyone in my family to never, ever wear a knitted swimsuit. They do not work when wet.

The 1966 NYT article says she worked in advertising at Time, Inc, and the high-school reunion page says she worked at Time, Inc. in advertising.

The wedding date might be off, though, as it looks like she got married in 1973. Maybe it was a long engagement? Or she married someone else. Or, it's not her.
