The victim is a 39-year-old woman, whose name has not been publicly announced. She suffered multiple stab wounds to her back and a laceration to her left arm, the NYPD said. She was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

She was previously arrested in 2018 after allegedly posting a threat on Facebook to kill Sen. Elizabeth Warren and getting a gun to shoot someone at a local police station.

According to the criminal complaint, she was previously hospitalized at Manhattan Psychiatric Center for more than a year, and had been discharged the morning before the attack. The criminal complaint stated that Aherne claimed she heard voices telling her to kill someone, or she would be killed herself.
