How sad that this poor gentleman has not been identified, considering his face was recognisable & his size 442lbs ( if correct)

Presumably no-one reported him missing.

I suppose the PM photograph would not have been shared due to the circumstances of his death ( taking his own life)

Had an artist’s impression ( of ‘living’ face) been created & circulated, someone may well have recognised him.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) POSTMORTEM WARNING, bruised face, no blood
This case is so sad in my opinion. This man obviously struggled with himself. It seems like he intentionally jumped in front of the train to commit suicide. I feel so sorry for him.

On July 14, 1989, an unknown man jumped in front of a northbound A train as it pulled into the 190th Street station, killing him.

The deceased was a white male who was in his twenties, thirties, or forties. He had red or auburn hair, 5 inches long, and brown eyes. He had a red mustache and beard.

He was 6’0” (183 cm) and weighed 442 pounds (201 kg). He doesn’t have any distinctive marks on him such as scars or birthmarks. He has no tattoos.

I feel sorry for this man. It makes me sad to think about what could have led him to this. I’m sure he had trouble with his life given he weighed over 400 pounds. God rest his soul.

I believe it is correct. He looks obese just looking at his face. He’s got tons of fat on his face. I’m feeling so sorry for him.

I’m not sure if he was or not. I haven’t found any MPs that match him. Poor guy.

No MPs match this man’s description. I searched for men 5’10”-6’2” and 350-500 lbs.

I do wish someone sketched him out too. That would help so we wouldn’t have to look at his PM. He isn’t in bad condition, it’s just a lot sadder for me to look at his PM picture because he was a suicide victim. I really do feel for this man.

It’s a shame. Even with all those extra pounds he was still a pretty good looking guy. I’m sure he was a sweetheart too. Some people just have a sweet look to them if that makes sense.

RIP to this unknown man. Unknown on earth, but definitely known in heaven. :)

This is super creepy to me because this is actually my train station!! I've never heard about this case, though, but I was also a child when this happened, and I didn't really take the subway often back then.

The only thing I can say is that this is a residential neighborhood (Washington Heights). It's not like Midtown (7 miles away) which sees a ton of tourists, commuters, workers, etc. pass through it. The nearby Cloisters museum is a point of interest but not really a go-to spot. Point is, I feel this narrows down the possibilities significantly. It would be very strange to pick this station to end his life if he didn't already have connections to the area. I suppose he could've been a transient who lived in the subway system, but he looks too well groomed for that, in my opinion.

The detail that he jumped in front of a northbound train stands out to me because there are only two stops left on the A line at this point. The next stop up is 200 St (Dyckman), which is kind of like main shopping street—but most people who live on 190 prefer to just walk the ten blocks instead of spending money to go up one stop. The last stop is 207 St at which you can transfer to Bronx-bound buses. Most people who use this station therefore use the southbound side to commute to work, and the northbound side to come home from work, which again suggests someone who lives here.

Then again, if he was from here, nobody from the area reported a missing resident? Even if he lived alone, no one reported an abandoned apartment?

Suicide, obesity, nobody seems to have reported him missing... I think he might've suffered from depression. That would explain his suicide and the excessive eating. Depression can also drive people into extreme isolation, perhaps he pushed his family and friends away and that's why no one seems to be looking for him? Speculation.

That’s what I was thinking. All around very sad. I hope he’s finally at peace.

Very strong possible match - Anthony Michael Dwyer, missing from lower New Jersey since July 11th, 1989.

Wow yeah I think this is a solid match!

Anthony was last seen just three days before the unknown decedent was found. Somers Point, NJ is 135 miles away from Washington Heights, which is easily doable by car or even a Greyhound bus. Maybe Anthony (or his family, friends, etc.) once lived in the Washington Heights area so he already knew it. Or maybe he just wanted to visit the nearby Cloisters for some reason before taking his own life.

Everything else matches—height, age, race, eye color, hair color, facial hair, even clothing. The unknown decedent is listed as weighing exactly 442 pounds, 100 more than Anthony. But honestly, in my opinion, Anthony looks heavier than 350 in the pics above. Maybe Anthony's weight comes from a prior physical checkup and he had gained weight since?

At any rate, I think you should submit this if you haven't already!

I'm planning on sending the Somers Point PD an email. Will keep you all posted.
