State and county officials Monday touted their support for a proposed November ballot initiative that would increase penalties for convicted sexual predators and allow detailed information on their description and whereabouts to be posted on the Internet.

At a noon press conference on the steps of the Riverside County Superior Court house, state Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth, R-Murrieta, and other officials urged voter support for the Sexual Predator Punishment and Megan's Law Expansion Act.
