CINCINNATI —
The Cincinnati Police Department is holding a press conference to provide an update on their investigation into a shooting Friday that killed an 11-year-old and injured five more in the West End.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, an 11-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Sunday afternoon, police have not identified the boy.

According to Theetge, multiple juveniles were shot but have not been publicly identified.

My son attends University of Cincinnati so this is a great concern as is the growing number of shootings.

Cincinnati police said five of the victims in the shooting, including the 11-year-old boy killed, were children.

Theetge said the children were near the intersection at Jones and Wade streets when someone in a dark Sedan fired 22 rounds "in quick succession" into the group of children.

Arriving officers located 6 shooting victims. Three were transported to Cincinnati Children's, two were taken to UC Medical Center and one was pronounced dead at the scene

Theetge provided the ages of the victims: a 12-year-old, 13-year-old, two 15-year-olds and 53-year-old woman. The victim that died at the scene was identified as an 11-year-old boy.

completely unacceptable!
I can't imagine how the west end neighborhood, let alone family members feel(!).
22 rounds were fired into a crowd of kids. Horrific.

A clearly distraght City Manager says, "this is not an act of God. This is not a natural disaster. The devastation and the harm and the loss of life are a shock to us all. But they stem from actions of real people... and they were enabled by access to guns."
She goes on to say that violence like this can not be the status quo. She also mentions the mental health toll that this can take of first responders.

"They were a group of kids playing outside their house when a madman came and fired rounds into the group of kids," Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval.
